My Personal Story

For many years, I experienced dreadful panic attacks and a mass of other puzzling, inexplicable symptoms. I was permanently exhausted, physically, mentally and emotionally. My GP referred me to various consultants and I underwent all sorts of examinations, x-rays and tests. Every result proved negative.

After many years of feeling really ill, I was referred to Dr Claude Lum, a respiratory consultant, who diagnosed that I had a breathing disorder known as Chronic Habitual Hyperventilation Syndrome (HVS). Dr Lum (sadly, no longer with us) was well known in the medical profession for his pioneering work into the cause and treatment of HVS (dysfunctional breathing) and it was entirely due to his revolutionary treatment programme that I learned how to breathe properly again and returned to full health.

After my recovery, I was enormously privileged and very grateful to have the opportunity to study Chronic Habitual Hyperventilation Syndrome with Dr Lum. For over thirty years now, I have been treating people with this problem and, I’m delighted to say, with a huge measure of success.
